Amaphupho / Dreams - Part 2

As I've mentioned before in the first article, amaphupho/dreams have different meanings for different people and their umsamo because amadlozi and amathongo communicate with their subjects through them. It is for this reason that communicative dreams should be followed up on and their true meaning should also be confirmed with those who are gifted in the interpretation of dreams. Having said this however; there are dreams that can/may generally be interpreted outside of a formal consultation. Those dreams are believed to have universal meanings for certain tribes. Even so, it is still always advisable that when one gets communicative dreams they must look into them to get a clearer understanding of the messages that are being communicated through this channel. What causes one to forget their dreams? I have heard many people complain that they cannot remember amaphupho abo. Often time you will wake up knowing very well that you had an important dream, but for the life of you, ...

Ukuhluka Kwamabhayi / Differentiating Amabhayi

Traditional Healers/Izangoma are known to wear or drape themselves with different coloured amabhayi. What most people don’t know is that isangoma doesn’t just choose which ibhayi/amabhayi he or she will use and wear as this is determined and defined by the spirits that possess them. Abelaphi bendabuko banezingubo abazigqokayo uma beqhuba umsebenzi wabo wokwelapho. Lezingubo noma izimpahla ziyakwazi ukuthi zibaveze njengabantu abenza lomsebenzi ngoba azigqokwa yinoma ngubani. Lapha sizobheka ukuhlukana kwazo lezingubo ngemibala nokuthi zichazani. Abelaphi bendabuko bahlanganisa izangoma, izinyanga nabathandazi. Kukhona labo abaneziphiwo eziningi umuntu eyedwa njengokuthi omunye abe yisangoba aphinde abe ngumthandazi. Ngokuhlukana nangokusebenza kwabo kunezimpahla zokugqoka abazisebenzisayo.   Uma umuntu egqoka ibhayi elibomvu elinamahawu (red with shields) it is believed that usuke engenwe amakhehla (unendiki). Idlozi lakhe kusuke kungoyise mkhulu. Ibhayi elikuhlaza okwesi...

Reincarnation

Reincarnation is the religious or philosophical concept that the soul or spirit, after biological death, begins a new life in a new body that may be human, animal or spiritual depending on the moral quality of the previous life's actions. I am a reincarnation of uGogo kamkhulu wami, an angelic spirit who prayed a lot, umuntu owayezithanda ngalendlela exakile and was also loved dearly by her husband, someone who lived 4 generations before me. I know most people do not believe in this concept but it is very true and real. I don't only represent her spirit and energy, but also the wisdom she acquired through myriad of lifetimes. She is my primary ancestor, and since I am aware and work with her specific energy - she is my primary guide and will be throughout my lifetime. At the end of my life, she will return to her identical spirit self and merge into one, taking the additional knowledge gained from my her experience with me as a form of payment. Then there's my secondar...

Amaphupho/ Dreams and their meanings

How does one explain or give meaning to a dream outside of a proper reading and consultation? I am often amazed at how people are so quick to offer meanings to dreams. The chances of one dream meaning the same thing for two different people are very slim if any at all. We are all different and unique, with different amaDlozi hence the secrets of each household's umsamo will differ from one person to the other. Amathongo and amaDlozi from each household have different ways of communicating with their subjects and how they communicate is very important to note. This is more important for those who are gifted or have the calling as the dreams carry important messages which should not be misread. There are however, those dreams that generally point at an ancestral calling as well as state in which the ancestors are in. These dreams include but are not limited to: Dreams about the sea/ocean. Dreams about Rivers or waterfalls. Dreams about snakes or lions Dreams about ...

A new year, A fresh start ! Bring balance into your life this year!

Most people have their new year resolutions drawn up by now and are all fired up to work towards achieving those set resolutions. The great thing about resolutions is that noone is holding a gun to your head, instructing you on what should or shouldn't be on that list. So why is it that most people write unrealistic and un-achievable resolutions? This year I want to challenge all of you to go back to the resolutions that you have drawn up. Review it and really apply your mind. I know that some people want to buy a car, house, get married/ find love, get pregnant etc. Now pause for a moment and think, can you achieve all that you have listed if your spirituality is not in order? You see, all our problems have a deeper root cause and you cannot start with treating the symptoms when then the underlying cause is ignored. Having said that, I want to ask each and every person reading this blog to make an effort at sorting your spirituality this year. Bring some balance into your lif...

Ukuvuma Idlozi/Accepting a calling

ukuvuma Idlozi/Accepting an ancestral calling is not as complicated as it believed to be. Most people are of the impression that in order to accept an ancestral calling one must part with hundreds or even thousands of rands to pay the isangoma who oversees this. This should not be the case at all. Ukungazi kuyahlupha (not knowing is problematic), because our priorities and the priorities of the ancestors are very different. Ancestors are more concerned with the emotional and spiritual well-being as opposed to physical and tangible things. Hence even when it comes to ukuvuma Idlozi/accepting the calling one does not need to spend a lot of money doing and buying thing that the ancestors are not bothered with. Ukuvuma Idlozi requires sincerity, purity and a deep understanding of who and what it is exactly that you are  accepting. One has to be patient as well because Idlozi can be very stubborn and feisty more especially if you have been ignoring it for a long ...

Undesrstanding Amadlozi/Ancestors

This is a very complex topic. By that I mean It takes time to truly understand Amadlozi and their way of doing things. Remember that they are living in the spiritual realm so the way they communicate with us or the way in which they try to get our attention can be very confusing and may or may not cause havoc in our lives. Firstly one needs to know the different types of Amadlozi / Amathongo that one is living with. This may be difficult for an ordinary person. But I will try and briefly outline the differences:  Amadlozi They are family members who have departed from this world and may be of your maternal or paternal lineage (there really is no particular lineage). Everyone has amadlozi with them and in their household. Idlozi Simply put this is the spirit of one who is departed having had the gift of helping others spiritually or otherwise (an iThongo that possesses someone).Your strength as one with Idlozi is dependant on the strength of iDlozi itself. ...
